Anatomy

Anatomy is an interesting experience. One becomes rather cavalier about the fact that the poor soul upon which an inept first year medical student is hacking was once a living, breathing person. On the other hand, the mere thought that this block of meat was a person serves to reinforce how miraculous and fragile life remains.

There is a wonderful order to human anatomy. It is a witness to the creator Himself. Although some would argue to the contrary, I find it difficult to believe that our creation was anything other than a stroke of the hand of God Himself. This is not to say that learning anatomy is an easy task, but in large part it is the memorization of a laundry list. Anatomy does not change, nor is its study subject to the latest whimsical theories. There are minute details to be learned, but there is a finite amount of useful information. This is generally reflected in the lectures. This is the first of many time consuming activities of medical school which competes for the limited amount of time available each day.
